Winterguard is a co-ed indoor season of colorguard. Performers combine flag, rifle, and sabre work with dance to tell a story set to music, performed on a painted floor in gyms and arenas. Milton competes in SAPA (Southern Association for Performing Arts) and WGI (Winter Guard International) events.
All students interested in being a part of the Milton Winterguard should attend the Try It Out dates to be placed on the Varsity or Junior Varsity team. Practice begins in November and goes through mid-April.
No prior experience or band class registration is necessary.
Winterguard is open to all students in 6th through 12th grade.
JV is where new members learn the basics. Students build beginner flag, equipment, and dance skills and practice on a lighter schedule.
Varsity is our advanced competitive team. Members work on more challenging equipment and choreography with a bigger time commitment.
